1932 Garden Cottage Before and Daydream

Today's Discovery

The Secret Craftsman

At $49,000, this 1932 cottage isn't competing with renovated homes across town. It's offering something far more interesting: a chance to bring an old house back to itself without losing the character that made it worth saving in the first place.

What Made the Difference

  • Rather than adding decorative elements just to make the house look "fancier," we worked with the existing rooflines and proportions.
  • The new jerkinhead porch echoes the existing roof form and gives the front elevation a stronger sense of purpose.
  • Board-and-batten does the heavy lifting. Used selectively with paint, it adds texture and definition.
  • A more intentional lanscaped path, planting, and entry sequence make the house feel welcoming.
You can do this too.

A home with possibilities

Why We Do This

Every home has possibility.

Some houses don't need to be rescued. They just need somebody to see what they could become. We look at affordable, overlooked homes and imagine what thoughtful changes could do - with good ideas, realistic budgets, and a little patience.
